Today we made little christmas puddings using mallowpuffs, melted white chocolate and sweets on the top. We wrapped them in green cellophane. Yum - we love christmas treats!
Jelly Time
Today Seeya's Mum made Jelly for all of us in Room 9. They were traffic light colours. It was so yummy and just perfect on such a hot day. Thank you Seeya and Ruchi! We loved it!

Christmas at the Park
On Sunday Room 9 and 4 families met for a fantastic picnic in the park. We were so lucky because Santa/Mrs Claus came to visit us and she had a big sack full of goodies for the children. Wow - we had so much fun! We enjoyed playing cricket, on the playground, having tea with our families and we even had a lolly scramble! Thanks to the fantastic parents who organised this special afternoon and also to Mrs Claus!!

Sun and Surf Fun
Room 9 had a wonderful time last week learning about how to be safe in the sun and at the beach. We were very lucky to have a lovely, warm day. The children all wrote a PMI (positive, minuses, interesting) about the trip. Do come and read your child's if you have the chance. Thank you to all the parents who were able to come along and support us on the trip.

Anei Ra Te Kura
Tomorrow we will have a whole school Powhiri after the 9:00 roll.
Here are the words to the song we all sang today. We sing this song to welcome visitors to our school. You might feel like a practise at home.

Athletics Fun
The children all had a fantastic time at the Athletics Sports. It was wonderful to see the children participating, having fun and giving everything their best! Thank you to all the parents who managed to come and have a look (and the parents who ran in our Room 9 race!).
Getting ready for the relay. Room 9's relay team did an awesome job.
Go Lexie!
Keep it up Isabella!
Fantastic work Lexie and Matthew who both won the six year old spring finals. An extra big thank you to Matthew who was running the last leg in the relay race. He managed to help us get first equal with a massive sprint to the finish. After we dropped the baton two times it was not looking too good for us................until speedy Matthew raced to the finish!

Little visitors to Room 9
Room 9 were very excited when we had some little visitors come to our class last Wednesday. Lily's Dad brought in their baby chicks to show the class. Everyone got to have a touch, ask some questions and write about the chicks. Thank you Lily!

Week 4 Certificate Winners
Last week Lexie and Avi were the lucky certificate winners. You are both such super workers and you always show all our school values. You are fantastic! Keep up the super job!
How to make a Pirate Hat
Today we followed a set of instructions to make our own Pirate Hats. We know that instructions have key words such as: First, Next, Then, Finally and Last. They also have action verbs such as: Mix, Fold, Cut, Stir. We are enjoying learning to write our own instructions and also following instructions carefully.

MONSTER EFFORT FOR OUR MONSTER FAIR!
WOW - what a fantastic Monster Fair to be a part of! A massive thank you for all our donations of face paints, nail polish, brushes, sponges, glitter, posters. We would like to say a special BIG thank you to all our amazing face painters and nail painters on the day. The children went away so happy with their designs and we even had a customer who was 93 and thoroughly enjoyed having her nails painted. We showed so many of our school values and we know the school fair was fundraising for such a fantastic outcome - fixing our school pool! THANK YOU!

Money Go Round
Last Friday we began our Inquiry Unit - Money GO Round. We made our own money, learnt how money goes around, made our own purses to hold our money in. What exciting things will we do next Friday?

Surprise Visitor!
Today Ronald McDonald came to talk to us about Road Safety. The main things we need to remember to keep safe are:
- Make sure you wear a seatbelt and make it click when you are in the car.
- Wear a helmet if you are on a skateboard or scooter.
- Walk sensibly on the house side of the footpath.
- STOP! LOOK! LISTEN! before you cross the road.
- Watch out for sneaky driveways.
We loved seeing Ronald McDonald and watching his show today!
Current News from Matthew
On Friday Matthew shared his current news with us. He talked about the migration of the Godwits to Alaska. Did you know they fly for 11,000 km to get there - without stopping. We were fascinated by Matthew's news. You did an amazing job at speaking in front of the class clearly and confidently. Awesome work Matthew.

Friday Fun!
Today our poem was called "My Flower." After we read and illustrated our poems we paired up with a friend and got to plant our own sunflower seeds. We know that plants need soil, sun, water and lots of singing to in order for them to grow. We thought it would be fun to see whose sunflower grows the most.

Writing Magic
Today we had a great time using our imagination in our writing. We started with the sentence, 'Once there was a very big.....'. Each child came up with an idea and then made up a story about it. We had a large range of ideas such as very large hamsters, ants, unicorns, dinosaurs, tomatoes, rainbows and many more. We also tried to include a simile in our story. The children did a fantastic job so do come in and read their stories.

Happy Holidays!
Hi there. I hope you have all been having a fantastic holiday. I can't wait to hear all about your holidays on Monday when we come back for Term 4. Remember to bring your school hat as this is a hat term. Enjoy the last couple of days relaxing and having fun with your family and see you in Room 9 on Monday. Here are a couple of pictures of my family on holiday. Can you spot Mt Cook in the background??
This is the 1000 piece puzzle that we did last week - it was very tricky!

Games Fun
Room 9 looked FABULOUS for our Games Day today. Thank you for dressing up to represent 'Fiji' in such a fun way. We all had a brilliant day and I am sure Room 9 would have been very tired after participating so enthusiastically.
Georgia was in charge of getting our class award from Mrs Warren.

Holly's Mozart Show
On Friday night I had the pleasure of taking Annabel and George to watch Holly's Jumping Mouse show. Holy was amazing as a butterfly. There were lots of other wonderful Year 1 children in the show from St Albans. I loved going to both Holly and Georgia's shows! Fabulous acting girls.
