Wacky and Weird Mufti-Day

The children (and Mrs Toohey) had fun dressing up in a wacky way on Thursday.  Strange coloured hair, clothes on backwards and some amazing mohawks were just a few highlights.  FUN!

Pizza restaurant

On Friday Room 9 and Room 4 created a St Albans Kids Restaurant.  We made an Entree, Main and Dessert.  A lot of our ingredients were from the garden and we took these to the table top.  The children made each course in groups and then set up a restaurant in Room 9.   We had to pay to come into the restaurant with pretend money.  Some children were our waiters for the day.  We displayed fantastic table manners and certainly didn't leave much on our plates! What a fun way to celebrate our inquiry topic.

A massive thank you to all our families for their generous donations of food and also to the parents who helped on Friday.  We loved it!

Fitness Fun

We have had the wonderful Mrs Sutherland visiting our class this week.  She is always full of fantastic ideas and one I took away was to encourage the children to led our activities more.  For our fitness on Thursday I gave the children a bean bag each and then asked them to come up with ideas that we could use for our fitness.  It was great to hear all their interesting ideas.  Everything we did that day came from the children.   They came up with fun ideas that got us moving and that built on the skills we have been learning in multi-skills.  Who needs my boring ideas!  Thank you Room 9.

Ka pai boys

Terrific job Matthew and James.  You have both been working hard in your writing this term.  Keep up the top effort!

Cross country 2012

I am so proud of how well you all ran today and tried your very hardest.  Ka Pai Room 9 on such an amazing effort.  All of you enjoyed yourselves and felt great when you finished the cross country.  I love the medals we made for showing excellence and having fun - two of our St Albans School values.  We are  also so very proud of our place getters.   Matthew came 1st and Riley came 2nd in the Year 1 boys race.  Lexie came 2nd in the Year 1 girls race.  We love your medals and well done.  Mrs Allen will try and get some other photos from the day - I only got a small snapshot.

Today Lily brought in a large bunch of herbs from her garden.  We tasted them and used some amazing describing words.  Here is our list of adjectives - delicious, orangey, yummy, soft, wicked, interesting, yucky, icky, disgusting, hot.  We tasted some lemon mint, parsley, edible flower petals, oregano, rosemary and even a herb called catnip.  Have a look in your garden and see if you can find some of the herbs we tasted.  Here are the photos we took today - look at the expressions on our faces and you might be able to work out whether we enjoyed tasting that herb or not!   Thanks for bringing these in Lily!
