Report Writing

This week we have been writing 'Reports'. We used our 'White Thinking Hat' to come up with facts about some special friends at our School.  Over the last two days we have worked with a buddy to write a report about 'Bernie' and 'Peg Leg'.  We included factual information such as what they are, where they live, what they look like and what they do.  They children were great at sharing ideas and responsibilities within their group.    Next week we will have a go at writing a report by ourselves!  Here is an example of our reports on Peg Leg.

Peg Leg goes to the Year One Assembly. Peg Leg goes to the tidiest classroom in Year 1.  Peg Leg lives in all the classrooms, not just Room 9.  He has one eye patch and he has a smile.  He has a hat too.

Peg Leg goes to the Assembly and the teachers choose what class he gets to go to.  Peg Leg lives just in the Year 1 classes.  Peg Leg has a smile and a stripy hat.  He looks like he chopped off his leg.  He has a patch and his top is blue.

Holly's Fairy Castle

Holly has sent through some photos of her amazing fairy grotto.  She has just turned 6 and has added many birthday treasures to her gorgeous grotto.  You are very lucky to have this in your garden Holly.  She has also sent through some spring photos.  When she visited her Grandma in Punakaiki these twin baby lambs had just been born.  I think Holly would love to have taken them back to Christchurch by the look of the smile on her face!

Learning about India

On Friday we were lucky to have Seeya's Mum Ruchi come in and teach us some interesting facts about India.  She let us dress up in some traditional outfits and fitted Saris on some of the children.  We tried Laddu which is a sweet made from coconut, condensed milk and milk powder.  Yum!! She also put Bindi on the children who wanted it on their forehead.

Community Value

Today Room 9 displayed true excellence at our whole school assembly.  We talked about our school value - Community.  Watch our movie below to see how amazing we are.

Maths Week

This week is Maths week.  Each night we will give you some maths problems to solve.  Bring in your answers each morning.  We will be giving out house points to our fabulous mathematicians! Check out the school maths blog.  There is a link to it on one of our pages at the top of this post.

Clever Readers!!

Wow we have some clever readers in Room 9!   Some children have just celebrated 175 nights of reading! Ka Pai! A big congratulations to our 150 nights and 125 nights also!! Keep up this super reading Room 9!
