Multi Skills Time

Every week we have been incredibly lucky to have Mrs Jones come to St Albans School and take the juniors for multi skills.  We have been focusing on moving into spaces, changing direction, pivoting, throwing and catching.  Mrs Jones has been really impressed with Room 9's listening skills and how well they have been applying the skills she has introduced to them.  Keep up the great work Room 9!

Swimming Stars

What a wonderful time we all had at Aquagym Swim Centre last week.  It was awesome to see all the children participating enthusiastically in their lessons.  Well done everyone.

How I really want to come to School.......

During our unit on Statistics we made graphs on how we come to school.  I asked the children if they could come to school any way they liked, what would it be?   I thought I might hear about helicopters or planes..........this was way to boring.  What great imaginations Room 9 has!

Room 9's Graphing Fun

We have been learning about statistics and graphs.  Last week we created a number of graphs and learnt some mathematical language to explain the results of our graphs.  We learnt words such as most, least and the same.  We also talked about how a graph always needs a title and each side should be labelled.  Have a look at what fruit is the most popular, our eye colours and also the ways in which we travelled to school.  We also asked our parents how they travelled to school when they were our age.  Look at all the walkers!

Meeting our new buddies for 2012!

On Friday we were so excited to find out our new buddy class for 2012.  We are so lucky to have Year 2 children from Room 15 - Mrs Simmon's class.  We waited so patiently while Mrs Allen and Mrs Simmons told us who are buddy was.  We were told to go and find a place to chat and find at least two things out about our new buddy.  We thought it was really cool when Ella and Ella, Georgia and Georgia were paired up together.  We can't wait to spend more time with our buddy class this year!

Certificate Winners this week

Well done to Rehan and Lexie who have received our class certificates this week.  Rehan did some wonderful writing and Lexie has been displaying our school values with pride.  It was very tricky to choose only two winners as everyone in Room 9 has made a fantastic start to the year.  Mrs Allen and I like how you are making our job hard.  Keep it up!

Fun Day Friday

On Friday we had our first day with Mrs Allen teaching in Room 9.  We learnt a new poem, began our self portraits and joined with Room 4 friends for developmental.  Mrs Allen and Mrs Kelly were interested in seeing us making new friends and enjoying the different activities we had out.  We made some playdough for both our classes and had loads of construction activities.  Some children enjoyed using the laptops and exploring kidspix.  Have a look at our clip below.  We are looking forward to our next developmental time.  This term we will be focussing on friendships, co-operative learning and also lots of cooking activities.

Hi

What a fantastic start to 2012!  Mrs Toohey has told me what super learners we have in Room 9.  I am really excited about coming in tomorrow.  We will be having our fun day Friday and joining with Room 4 for developmental time.  I wonder what exciting activities we could do at developmental?  See if you can think of some activities you would like to do at this time.  I can't wait to see you all in the morning.  I have included a couple of pictures of my family on holiday in Queenstown and up in Russell.  Mrs Allen :)
